We are in the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times. Is it ten years? A hundred years? Five hundred years? We don't know how long this dispensation will go on. God's measurement of time 'does not compute ' to us.

A generation is a space/unit/period of time. A Dispensation is a period of time known only to God. God the Father is the ONLY one (Jesus, as alluded to earlier, my also know at this point), who knows when...within the dispensational time period...when Christ will return.
Cover your eyes! Incoming!

Corrupt and lying Mormon apologists improperly convert the word "generation" into something it is not as if it represents a dispensation or an era of time that can last indefinitely rather than the normal lifespan of a human being. The word dispensation does not compliment that interpretation and has nothing to do with duration or length of time. It's a Mormon cheap shot in trying to save a failed prophecy! MG is grasping a long straw and is out of air!

Examine the prophetic Patriarchal Blessing uttered by the Church Patriarch (prophet, seer and revelator), given to the President of the Church in 1834, and recorded in the handwriting of the Assistance President of the Church (Second-in-command), Oliver Cowdery:
Joseph Smith Sr. gave some blessings that were highly elevated and intensely visionary promises...not unique for the spiritual practices of the time...that differed in tone from modern blessing practice.

In his blessings his style included visions of heavenly beings and the end times, direct promises of longevity and protection, sealing up unto eternal life, and yes, prophecy of the end times and those that would witness them...and in particular the second coming of Christ.

Joseph Sr. along with many other early leaders had a millenarian world view in which the Savior's return was imminent. They knew that they were in and part of the final Dispensation of the Fullness of Times that would immediately precede the second coming of the Savior. It was not uncommon for them to think that it would happen within their lifetimes.

It might be helpful to remember that for years during the early days of the restoration the practices/doctrine of the Church were still developing. Practices were much more fluid and 'spirit filled' as a result of the times they lived in. This prophetic fervor manifest itself in a number of different ways...including patriarchal blessings of the time.

Now that we are in the twenty-first century we can see that the final dispensation was not just ten or twenty years in duration. The Restoration is ongoing even in our day. And we are part of it.

It was false prophecy by the laying on of patriarchal hands upon the head of the false Prophet of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints.

Poor pitiful Mormons following the ways of the world!

You have a lying spirit, MG. I see through you! I know what you are doing. I see! I AM a prophet!

A generation, "The people of the same period, or living at the same time" (Webster Dictionary, 1828) cannot live to be 500 years old. That is impossible unless applied to a mythical generation in which people lived for hundreds of years as expressed in Geneses. The so-called dispensation of the fulness of times (Eph 1:10) hijacked by the Mormons does not give license to inflate a generation beyond its true meaning and purpose nor does it grant the right to forsake the correct use of the word used throughout scripture.

MG, your apologetics is atrocious and very deceptive. That is why I call you a liar to your face! You are trying to lump everything together (generation & dispensation) as if it's a mystery that cannot be defined, explained, and properly labeled. You, MG, present nothing but chaos. You remind me of Donald Trump. You ignore the evidences put before you and are in constant denial.

The word Dispensation is not a period of time, per se. For the record, this is what it means:
Noah Webster, 1828 wrote:Image

DISPENSATION, noun [Latin See Dispense.]

1. Distribution; the act of dealing out to different persons or places; as the dispensation of water indifferently to all parts of the earth.

2. The dealing of God to his creatures; the distribution of good and evil, natural or moral, in the divine government.

Neither are Gods methods or intentions different in his dispensations to each private man.

3. The granting of a license, or the license itself, to do what is forbidden by laws or canons, or to omit something which is commanded; that is, the dispensing with a law or canon, or the exemption of a particular person from the obligation to comply with its injunctions. The pope has power to dispense with the canons of the church, but has no right to grant dispensations to the injury of a third person.

A dispensation was obtained to enable Dr. Barrow to marry.

4. That which is dispensed or bestowed; a system of principles and rites enjoined; as the Mosaic dispensation; the gospel dispensation; including, the former the Levitical law and rites; the latter the scheme of redemption by Christ.

DISPENSATIVE, adjective Granting dispensation.
So, the words "generation" (time) and "dispensation" (system) are not interchangeable but have distinct definitions and are based on different concepts.

As you know, in the case of 'the ancients', some scholars have determined that the use of the word 'generation' had different meanings during that time period.
What scholars do you refer to? A generation is a representation of those alive during an extended period of time as I have so dutifully expressed throughout this thread. A generation is a generation, a period of time. Some may be shorter than others but it's basically the same thing.

Methuselah lived to be 969. If he’s our model for a generation, we’ve got nearly a millennium to work with. Futurists must love that guy.

Here is how the Church explains what dispensation means in Mormon terms
A dispensation of the gospel is a period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the holy priesthood and the keys, and who has a divine commission to dispense the gospel to the inhabitants of the earth. When this occurs, the gospel is revealed anew so that people of that dispensation do not have to depend basically on past dispensations for knowledge of the plan of salvation. There have been many gospel dispensations since the beginning. The Bible suggests at least one dispensation identified with Adam, another with Enoch, another with Noah, and so on with Abraham, Moses, and Jesus with His Apostles in the meridian of time. Paul writes of “the dispensation of the fulness of times” in which the Lord will “gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth” (Eph. 1:10). The fulness of times is the final dispensation and began with the revelation of the gospel to Joseph Smith. It is a dispensation of restoration and of fulfillment of the Lord’s plans and purposes since the world began.
The LDS Church promotes Apocalypticism. That the end of days is imminent. That stance promotes urgency in its adherents to comply with leaderships requirements, which can be seen as self serving or at least that there’s a self interest in promoting it from the leaderships perspective. It helps them retain power and authority over the members and, in the LDS Church’s case, drives income. Of course, the Church has been claiming the second coming is imminent for the last nearly two hundred years. There’s obviously a definition of “imminent” with which I’m not familiar.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
