I also saw the Taliban leader say I'm an interview that Afghans are free to leave the country if they so choose, but they wished they'd stay to help rebuild the country.

More than 101,000 people have been evacuated in just two weeks. That's a marvel in and of itself. Biden has really stepped up to the challenge and performed. Five days to go and there are only about 500 American civilians still in Afghanistan.

You're absolutely hilarious sometimes. Biden just armed the Taliban with about $300 billion worth of military equipment. Biden is weak in every way imaginable and he's made America weak as well. I just can't believe his handlers were stupid enough to let him do this. Even Obama knew better than to leave Afghanistan.

Although it’s no excuse that we didn’t destroy everything we could that we left behind, much of it was in the hands of the Afghan Army. And much of that was disabled when we began packing up to leave. The Afghan Army itself cites unusability of US-made weapons systems as one of the reason that they were overrun by the Taliban forces -

”The Afghan forces were trained by the Americans using the U.S. military model based on highly technical special reconnaissance units, helicopters and airstrikes. We lost our superiority to the Taliban when our air support dried up and our ammunition ran out.

“Contractors maintained our bombers and our attack and transport aircraft throughout the war. By July, most of the 17,000 support contractors had left. A technical issue now meant that aircraft — a Black Hawk helicopter, a C-130 transport, a surveillance drone — would be grounded.

“The contractors also took proprietary software and weapons systems with them. They physically removed our helicopter missile-defense system. Access to the software that we relied on to track our vehicles, weapons and personnel also disappeared. Real-time intelligence on targets went out the window, too.

“The Taliban fought with snipers and improvised explosive devices while we lost aerial and laser-guided weapon capacity. And since we could not resupply bases without helicopter support, soldiers often lacked the necessary tools to fight. The Taliban overran many bases; in other places, entire units surrendered.”

The immediate worry is likely small arms, tactical equipment (scopes, lasers, night vision gear) and data gleaned from any computing equipment that will be salvaged for weapons system tech, general intel, and information that can be used to implicate Afghans that assisted Coalition forces. They’ll probably sell off what they can of the bigger stuff to fund their ambitions.

Otherwise, there’s very good reason why ISIS and the Taliban have been much more enamored of Toyota pickups than any APC that they can scrounge from an abandoned US base.
