The first amendment does not protect you from being ridiculed, it doesn’t protect your religion from being ridiculed. It protects my right to ridicule you and your religion. It protects your right to keep practicing your religion. It doesn’t protect your religion’s attempts to infringe on the rights of others.

I agree with that.

It might be well to point out instances where the church is attempting to infringe on the rights of others to make their own personal choices.

For the record, I find people roller skating in temple clothes to be intentionally trying to disrespect the religious practices of others.

I roundly condemn it.

But would fight to the death to protect their right to do it.

Not sure what exactly you’re referring to here, but I do agree that this thread is going in a different direction than originally intended. For my part, I’m responding to posts that are being directed my way. I would suggest that if there are items/issues of concern that folks have unrelated to the track of this thread, that they be taken elsewhere or saved for another day.

Honestly? I don’t listen to or pay “these guys” any attention. I am not really interested in what they do or say, in as far as giving them my time. If they are doing anything inappropriate, I think that is unfortunate. But it is what it is.

My hope is, however, that those young people who are paying attention to “these guys” or any other so called apologists are doing their own homework. There are way too many young people that are relying on internet memes and resources to resolve matters that should be taken care of through deep personal study and prayer.

I don’t think there’s enough of that going around.

It’s fun playing leader roulette isn’t it? Then you have to figure out who Trump's who. It appears that you think, however, that what John Taylor said conflicts with the quotes taken from Joseph Smith that I I provided. If so, maybe you ought to actually point out the particulars and show the direct conflict?

It’s important to keep in mind, also, that John Taylor may have had different views than Joseph on this matter. Be that as it may, I think it might be well to point those differences out in specificity.

Oh not at all. I think that John Taylor obviously agrees with Joseph Smith when Smith reports that God said "that all the churches were wrong, and that their creeds were an abomination in his sight."
