Here is the first ref that you supplied:

22But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,

23Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,

That's not the Bible claiming to be the word of God. That is a quote attributed to God.

Mark 7:13 is about the 10 commandments. I won't post the entire excerpt.

Here is Luke 3:8

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

Unless I mistook your reference for Luke, I don't see a mention of the word of God.

Again, the Bible itself couldn't claim to be the word of God. The Bible didn't exist at the time. Such broad assessments ignore the fact that the Bible also contains things such as history, proverbs and Psalms. Surely the Psalms, for instance, couldn't be considered the word of God. They are words/songs TO God.

Just one question and I admittedly only skimmed through the commentary by Spong. If Spong addressed that and I didn't catch it, feel free to ignore my question.

Hi Jersey Girl, my Bible's concordance lists about 7 inches of such refs. Begining 1 Kings, 12:22 and ending 'LDS, Article of Faith # 8'... Jesus is said to have said it in Mark 7:13, and in Luke 3, 8. Check it out for detail. Does Bible use authenticate anything but the useage of the term by primitive people? I think not. Warm regards, Roger

Hi Roger!

With all due respect, there is no way that the Bible could claim to be the word of God because the Bible simply didn't exist in it's present form when the words in it were written. Now, I would agree that there are quotes that claim to be God's words or that Jesus is claimed to be the Word but the Bible itself couldn't claim that. I will look up the references that you supplied.

Thanks,
Jersey Girl

Hi J-Girl< :-) Wachameen: "With all due respect,..." (Roger??) See IF i'm understanding You correctly...

1. You asked:
Where does the Bible claim to be the word of God?

Which i attempted to answer with refs from a Bible concordance... Any better place to locate "Bible claim(s)"??

Me thinks you think, that I/Roger concure with these refs?? If so, you's wrong Girl. IMSCO, there is not, nor ever was, one "word-of-God" in the Bible. The Bible is simply the words of MANY men claiming to be quoting, or representing, God. Hope that clears that issue?? Warm regards, Roger
