I agree with Runtu that this place is poisonous.
Almost makes you wonder if free speech is worth it. Well, at least nobody makes you listen to it. Funny how most of 'em keep coming back though. Maybe if we're lucky, they come back immune. If we're really lucky someone will have an antidote.

That other board is worse where even the antidote is not allowed.

Hey, Runtu, I don't blame you. I froze them out myself. I don't like their stand on blaming victims of rape (per Richard G. Scott & Co.), for reasons which are probably readily understood by people with even a baseline rating of human compassion.
Anyway, it's kind of sad that they've lost that measured voice of yours; if they are interested in dialog at all, they should understand you can't have one with yourself...and if what they are promulgating really is the truth, they should not fear opposition. In fact, you'd think they would welcome the chance to show the highest of the morals they are capable, and the power of the truth it is that they give their lives for. There are a few posters there, like Bluebell, who I think manage this quite beautifully, but I think you could add most of the rest of them together and still not equal one of a person like her.
By the way, Wheat, I issued you a challenge to be scintillating and insightful, and so far, I'm not impressed.
(And Runtu, you know me as "cheeseburger," from RfM. IF you remember me. Which it's okay, if you don't. :P)

You're wrong; Wheat did no such thing.

I can't blame runtu. It is tiring to be continually exposed to Mormon bullying, especially when it's targeted towards the most calm-natured among us, like runtu or Jason.
Shades, I think he meant ANY board intended for discussion or debate between Mormon and nonbeliever, which is why he put the S on the end of "board".
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble with the FLAK code. I've tried to register several times and never get the code right. I finally gave up. Maybe I'll try one more time.
(heh, it worked this time, thanks for the "all caps" tip!)

We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I hate those stupid things. Why do they make them case sensitive? The sizes are all disproportionate, so sometimes you just can't tell what case a particular letter is supposed to be. I just registered at FLAK, though, and it looks like their code uses all caps.
I'll try all caps. Yeah it's difficult to tell on those letters.
Shades, he said "boards", although I wonder if posters here call that place rotten, and posters there call this place rotten if they're all rotten. :(

This whole thread, and the one on FLAK, disappoint me. Why would anyone think a place that allows all opinions equally is "poisonous"? Obviously I'm not talking about MADB. I'm talking about here on MDB. We have our share of zealot Mormons. We have our share of zealot anti-Mormons. And we have lots of people in between. To get one's nose out of joint because of one side or the other, in a place designed to allow all opinions equally just seems kinda lame to me.
I am registered on FLAK. I haven't posted there in a very long while, because it was made abundantly clear to me that my voice was neither welcome nor desired, nor was my opinion valid. I still see good in the church, therefore I am 'way outside the circle there. Here, all voices are held equally welcome, equally desired, equally valid, even those that disagree with me.
I am extremely disappointed in Capt Jack's comment on the FLAK thread:
For that matter, what "real" dialogue exists at FLAK? Are Mormons welcome on FLAK; is their experience considered valid? Not in my experience.
The only place... and I do mean the only place I've ever seen a truly even-handed attempt to allow adults to converse with minimal moderation about all viewpoints and opinions regarding the LDS church is here, on MDB. And I've been kicked off several boards that discuss the LDS church on all sides, so I think I have some standing in this arena.

. There, meaning here on MDB. Never? I mean... never??? How could he have missed the threads in the CK? How could he have missed any number of discussions involving Tarski and Trevor and Guy? And "real" dialogue? What the heck does he consider "real" dialogue? Bel's comments I can understand; she's never posted here, so she has no standing, but Capt Jack has posted here and his comments have been as valid as anyone else's. So were his own comments not "real"?I agree with bel--there was never any real dialogue there.
