Agreed. Unless one's debate protocol is quite, quite well-rehearsed, one ends up making the occasional stupid utterance. Just hit the mental delete key and go from there, is what I do. His case, fully considered, it not much worse for wear even given that he, on a few occasions, makes such nonsensically-dogmatic statements. I attribute them to extemporaneous enthusiasm and tend to bracket them from full consideration. There's more going on than that, after all.

I guess I have to keep the title of the debate in mind here.
The title of the debate was: 'Should we rid the mind of God'? This wasn't an existence debate (specifically).

Given that emphasis, McGrath's arguments are better than I'm giving him credit for...
