When I was a kid, we had pica and courier. I preferred the larger courier.

ARGH crap, I picked the wrong one. I thought I was picking the one that is for size 8 being too small.
I think size 8 is far too small for young children, not necessarily for vision reasons, but because when children learn to read, they learn from books with larger text, I believe, because it is much easier to pick out the individual letters. It would be hard from them to adjust from what they are used to reading to smaller than the standard for postal letters sent to adults.
However, I do also think there is a benefit in terms of development in that they would learn to adjust over time and therefore because they have had to adapt, they would be likely to be better readers and read faster when going back to normal sized text.

I think the Mormon kids should do well, since they have access to magic reading-glasses. If it is a Mormon-dominated school-district, that may be their intent.
