Now, just between you and me. (Okay, and the other two and a half people who might have bothered to read this far.) You've known all along that Will's mention of "calling and election made sure" was about his posting status, haven't you?
But it was just too good to pass up, wasn't it?
Regards, Pahoran
I have no idea why you've singled me out in this particular issue. No, I do not believe he was referring to his posting status.
I'm kind of surprised you still want to bring up your hypocritical criticism of Dr. W, by the way.
Jersey Girl wrote:I will check that again, Pahoran, and comment.
Cool.
Here's what I find:
Firstly Will (who does not believe in a literal burning hell) makes a remark about apostates being on a "barbecue" at the last day.
Shades responds by saying that Will might end up there, based upon some remarks he posted, and some scriptural verses.
Will (who apparently doesn't take Shades' theological/scriptural expertise seriously at all) defuses that with a lighthearted remark about his posting status.
And then demands to know why it hasn't yet been upgraded to "God," since he has apparently reached the 1000-post mark.
I'm just going to transfer it here so I can read it 300 more times before I make a final decision.

Dr. Shades wrote:With comments like that, it looks like you'll be in the barbecue at the last day:

William Schryver wrote:I don't think so.
I didn't call her a "raca," now did I? And she certainly ain't my brother, is she?
And she certainly meets every qualification of "bitch" that I've ever known of ...
Proverbs 8
5 O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
6 Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
7 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
Besides, as I've indicated previously, I have my calling and election made sure. I'd have to shed innocent blood to fall from my exaltation at this point. And we both know I ain't gonna find any of that here. . . . Edit: By the way, when do I get my certificate of Godhood, and the party that goes with it?
What, are you gonna discriminate against me just because I'm so popular here?

It seems to me that rumors of William stating this were around long before this thread/post. Is this not the case? Did this really originate in this thread or elsewhere?
beastie wrote:I have no idea why you've singled me out in this particular issue.
She replied, with such an air of innocence. After all, you didn't bring it up several times in the first few pages of this thread, did you?
Oh, wait; yes, you did.
beastie wrote:No, I do not believe he was referring to his posting status.
Nor would you admit it. Got it.
beastie wrote:I'm kind of surprised you still want to bring up your hypocritical criticism of Dr. W, by the way.
Because, as you and I both know, there's nothing remotely "hypocritical" about it.
But I'm not the least bit surprised that you would want to continue yapping about your brazenly dishonest attempt to tar me with the same brush.
Regards, Pahoran
I'll let folks read the linked thread and come to their own conclusions about your possible hypocrisy.
You've always had the habit of pretending you KNOW what other people KNOW, and I've always found it strikingly bizarre. At any rate, there was no dishonesty in my demonstration of your hypocrisy. I believed you were a hypocrite then and still do today.
But I won't derail the thread further.
And yes, Will had previously mentioned having his calling and election made sure, as he mentioned himself. The thread Jersey Girl shared was not the first, although I have no idea where he first mentioned it.

Okay...this first quote puzzled me until I went back through the thread, yes that's right I went back through a thread to figure out something about a strange person on the Internet, but that's really not anyone's business but my own...

But apparently I just can't help myself. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is regrettably so weak. Maybe I'll find greater strength tomorrow to overcome this peculiarly virulent sickness. As the Master well-noted:

I would beseech the good professor, the venerable Dr. Peterson, to fast and pray for me, but he also is afflicted--even worse than I.

Alas, I was provoked by gramps' indictment of the famous letter from Joseph Smith to Nancy Rigdon. gramps asks:
gramps:
Now, what about the letter? Do you follow that philosophy yourself? Do you teach it to your children?
Indeed I do! I consider that letter a veritable revelation; a marvelous window into the mind of God; one of the most notable "pearls" of great price to issue forth from the mouth of the Prophet of the restoration. I not only believe in and follow that philosophy myself, but I seek every opportunity to teach it to my children.
Of course, I am quite certain that neither gramps nor any of his buddies here in the GSTP™, have even the remotest clue about the meaning of the concepts espoused in that letter. Nevertheless, and notwithstanding the pervasive ignorance of those who condemn Joseph Smith for what he wrote in that letter, I consider it—along with the King Follett discourse—to be among the crowning jewels in the revelations that poured forth from the Prophet during his all-too-brief career.
Pahoran,
Your evaluation is correct. The remark was about Will's posting status.

Does it really matter? It is only a discussion board. My gosh, the problem with Will is that he posts under his name. To think that a discussion board with a handfull of active members can have someone who posts on that board be prevented from publishing an article based on his posts on that board is quite an event.

I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Thanks, Jersey Girl. I did not realize that. I wonder why Will never corrected this misunderstanding. It's been referred to many, many times.
And that's the second thing that's made me feel a bit better about members of the church today. First, some took Will's problematic behavior seriously, and second, no leader was insane enough to think Will should have his calling and election made sure.

Tell you what folks, out of the boredom....err, goodness of my heart, I am going to go through the 84 pages of calling/election hits on the search results and see if I can find any other remarks made by WS to that effect.
I cannot believe I am doing this.
