I don't consider this a lose/lose. Look at the Greeks. They lost most of their members but their beliefs are fascinating! Thousands of books have been and are still written about them. What a legacy!
All that is true, Z. Although, you're the only Athena worshiper I know. It's getting to be a very small club.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Why do you use the word dynamic in regards to the church's changes if they conforming to changes the Christian or secular world has already made prior to the church's conforming. Unless you had something different in mind?

"Dynamic" in that the changes implemented can potentially be effective action. That's the idea I had in mind when I used the word "dynamic". You are free to disagree with my word use if you like, though.

I ain't nuttin'. don't get all worked up on account of me.
I was assuming that revelation was the vehicle for the church's dynamic ability to change. It seems to minimize to nearly null the need for revelation if the "dynamic" change is always change that has already occurred outside the revelatory church. Unless I am incorrect and the Church is ahead of the curve where it is changing, I open to your possibilities of that?

I think the church can very well change based on revelation and or other influences from which truth comes. I don't understand what your last question is asking.

Why do the "gentiles" always lead the charge for change? What's the opposite of revelation? Whatever that is, that seems to be how the church operates.

I am asking if you aware of some change major or minor that isn't following the outside secular or Christian world but rather leading it and the outside secular or Christian world would then follow? Are you aware of any example of that? If not dynamic change is simply parroting the real change taking place in the secular and outside Christian world. Revelation is therefore not necessary, silly even.

What should have the LDS church done about prop 8? Remain silent? I thought that it was about time that the LDS church engaged with the world and the direction that the world is taking, especially inside the usa.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Yes. They should have remained silent. It backfired big time and made the church look bad. And probably as a result of Prop 8, public opinion is swinging in favor of gay marriage faster than ever.
