No.
D&C 29: 9
9 For the hour is nigh and the day soon at hand when the earth is ripe; and all the bproud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, saith the Lord of Hosts, that wickedness shall not be upon the earth;
D&C 64: 24
24 For after today cometh the burning—this is speaking after the manner of the Lord—for verily I say, tomorrow all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, for I am the Lord of Hosts; and I will not spare any that remain in Babylon.
D&C 133: 64
64 And also that which was written by the prophet Malachi: For, behold, the day cometh that shall burn as an oven, and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

That was mean and NOT how I meant it at all. I'm sorry. Let me try again. Your statement is a proclamation of absolute truth, or does your caveat "in this mortal existence" change its dynamic?

My statement was not a proclamation of an absolute truth. I was stating what I think, in no absolute terms whatsoever. However, yes, I do think (believe, speculate, In other words, making no pretense at all to absolute truth), there may be Absolute Truth in the eternal sphere. I highly doubt (again, making no pretense at all to absolute truth) that we as mortals will ever know that truth, nor do we need to know it.

Not sure I get the distinction, but okay.
Anyway... if there is AT in the eternal sphere, why would there not be here? Is not this sphere a part or function of the eternal? I'm not saying you're saying it's impossible, but wouldn't it be reasonable to believe that IF there is AT in eternity that we could be aware of it? What precludes us from not?

Peace.
That is a great answer!!
Thanks.

Hello Madeleine,
I appreciate your answer as I think it gets at my thoughts from the opposite direction. I have to admit I found your statement to be questionable. To say you are moved by people implies, under the surface, an ideology that drives you to make this statement and perhaps even realize it through action. Whether it's small "c" catholicism or something else, there is an ideology that is underlying your statement.
To help, I'd suggest the following definition for the term, "ideology" subject to comment and revision if needed - The body of ideas reflecting the social needs and aspirations of an individual, group, class, or culture; or a set of doctrines or beliefs that form the basis of a political, economic, or other system.
With pluralism, I think we have to first be aware of it's counterpart "multiculturalism" which I would define simply as the tolerance of differing views. Again, that definition is up for discussion, but it seems easy enough.
Where I think pluralism, in its many forms, differs from multiculturalism, is in it's understanding of the world. Unlike multiculturalism which is merely tolerant by says nothing about hierarchy, pluralism suggests that there are fundamental differences in values, cultures, political ideas, religious ideas, etc., that are at their core equal even though they are different and irreconcilable.
To me, to say that pluralism is an ideology is certainly accurate, but to then say one disagrees with it means one still feels there is a distinct hierarchy of value in the types of thoughts that move us or make us human.
So, that is my long winded way of saying I disagree with your statement, but would be interested in knowing in what way you feel you are not partial to any particular ideology?

I take it for granted that you believe in calculus and that human beings can use it.
What, then, precludes dogs from using it?

Nightlion,
I appreciate a straightforward, honest answer even if I disagree.
If you wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in you clarifying what it means to do wickedly in your view.
