Agreed. I suspect harmony and I are very similar in our views on this.harmony wrote:God doesn't speak to Pres Monson for each individual. God speaks to the individual, and if they're so inclined, they hear him. God speaks to Pres Monson only as far as the collective body of Mormons needs. And often, as evidenced by the decided lack of inspiration and revelation coming out of SLCentral these days, Pres Monson doesn't listen (I suspect it's because he spends too much time with Packer).

Has President Monson ever uttered the words, "God said to tell you guys that... "? As I understand it, a prophet can receive messages. None of the Brethren have Prophet, Seer and Spokesperson to the world in their titles.

I think you raise a very, very interesting point, Kevin. I seldom ever see the Mormons on the boards openly saying that they think Pres. Monson is a "prophet" in any meaningful sense. E.g., I never see them saying that they believe he's seen Christ, or that he gets legitimate revelation, that he performs actual miracles, or anything like that. I daresay the closest thing I've seen is BCSpace's assertion above that Monson "holds the keys." This may merely be a sign of the widespread Internet Mormonism on the boards: most of these folks either (a) will not say that Monson is a prophet for tactical, PR, and rhetorical reasons, or (b) because they don't actually think he is a "prophet," but rather, more of a bureaucratic/administrative leader.

Or (c) view him as the spiritual leader for his flock.

Re: Any Other Monson Supporters out there?
I have a TSM jersey I wear to church on Sundays. I have a sticker of him on my bicycle.
He's the prophet of God for all the earth who oversees the priesthood keys and leads the church. I guess that means he, along with the apostles, act in accordance to the needs of their callings at the present time. I think through the scriptures we have the prophets of God in roles of kings, rulers, war heroes, wavering doubters, spokesmen, builders, dreamers, historians and mere shepherds. What TSM does now, is it spectacular or as cool as the mythological picture presented in scriptures? Nope. But I still believe he holds the keys of the priesthood to oversee and lead the church organization in its current needs and that's why I bring noisemakers to cheer for him at conference.

Thanks for the response, Liz3564. Like I told Tobin, it's nice to have some good companionship (with you and the seven you mentioned) here.
She didn't answer your question.

Reading the GAs today in the LDS magazines, it is difficult to find disagreement with them about how to do life. Now is it all from god? Each person needs to make their own judgement.

Hi Kevin, what do you believe Monson has done or said that fits the mantle of being; Prophetic; Seership; or Revelatory?
What evidence do you have that President Monson is talking to, and being guided by, either God or Christ?
Why do you think that instead of talking to the World himself,President Monson uses a Public Relations team and spokespeople?
