On the other, this was really his own doing. People--friends and enemies, critics and TBMs--have been telling him for years to tone things down, and to knock off the ad hominem attacks. He just wouldn't listen, and so now he's like Ahab, sinking beneath the waves because he refused to cease with the hostility.
Ultimately, I think this is a good thing. The Review has just been too negative over the years, and I think it's positive that it will move in a more scholarly direction. It's good for the Church, it's good for interfaith relations, and it's good for Mormon Studies in general.
I suppose the big question for me now is, Where will the Mopologists go? Will Midgley, DCP, Hamblin, etc. take over FAIR? Or will they revive SHIELDS? It'll be interesting to see what happens.
I suspect so, but they're already entering the blogosphere, mainly because they love to hear themselves speak.

That was merely a prelude to a more worthy calling such as the Sixth Quorum of the Seventies. Dr. Peterson will be advancing in whatever new role he takes on.

Perhaps head of the new covert Apologetic Quorum of iApostles?

There really would be no need for you to continue you anti-DCP campaign if he is no longer in the Mopologist spotlight.
I suppose that there is a silver lining to this cloud for DCP if this rumor is true.
Liz, in a sense, you're right. This will totally erode his credibility as an apologist, since it will mean that he no longer has the backing of BYU. He may carry on in other venues--such as FAIR--and I reserve the right to offer up criticism wherever I see fit, but you're definitely right that there is a silver lining here.

Actually, I find this possibility refreshing. I miss your posts that didn't involve DCP in some way. This would be an interesting new chapter.
So are we to assume that DCP being replaced was that he was forced out, rather than he asked to be done. If he was forced out do you think it had anythink to do with his boner hot booty shaking.
