In the case of Romney's comments, voters who do not pay income tax split almost evenly between the parties in presidential elections and there's no reason to think that will change much this time around. The poor actually have been on a long trend towards voting Republican, so if anything it may trend a little more this cycle. If it were a simple matter of Obama being in the interest of those who do no pay income tax and people rationally voting their economic self-interest, this wouldn't be the case.
But please continue to defend the welfare/redistributionist state and the vast oceans of Americans, from the underclass, to the working poor, to the middle class, who receive from their fellow citizens more than they contribute in taxes, and who are net consumers of the wealth of their neighbors.
That's what "libertarians" do best, right E?
