Doesn't anyone think we should define the term "deep state"?

Sure.

Deep State
dēp stāt
noun
1.
Lunatics on the Right believe the United States have elements within the government and industrial complex that govern without consent from the people. A particularly favorite boogeyman of the Alt Right, religious nut jobs, and Trump supporters who post on this forum.

"black hawks have circled my house since I voted for Trump, it looks like the Deep State is onto me"

- Doc
In the face of madness, rationality has no power - Xiao Wang, US historiographer, 2287 AD.

Every record...falsified, every book rewritten...every statue...has been renamed or torn down, every date...altered...the process is continuing...minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Ideology is always right.

I did in my first post. The Deep State, in a US context, refers to the semi-permanent federal security bureaucracy pursuing its own interests. The argument that James Comey was inappropriate in his speech scolding Clinton to endear himself to or appease career FBI personnel would be an example of influence from "the deep state."

It's been subsequently coopted by the right to mean a conspiracy of people within the civil service seeking to overturn the results of elections by subverting the President.

What about the Deep State of the CSA that ended up infiltrating the Republican party, transforming it and using it to disassemble the Union? With the help of foreign powers and agents, just like the old CSA...?

Isn't it ironic how this statement of yours perfectly describes the Republican mindset that demands adherance to a Deep State conspiracy when confronted with the reality that not everyone bows to their particular agenda and current clown-like leader?
