I never noticed that, I will pay more attention

Chekhov said that if you have a rifle above the fireplace in the first act, it should have been fired by the third act. Otherwise, don't put it there.

What was Sulu's response?

Sometimes the ending of a call gives some hint of who was on the other end of the call. For instance, if Trump ended a call with "Hugs and kisses, love you too" then the viewing audience could surmise that he was talking with Vladimir Putin.

Is your friend Harry Reid?

https://www.cnn.com/2015/03/31/politics ... index.html

Reid always hangs up on people -- whether he is mad, or telling them he loves them.

"Well I have a lot of bad habits, one of them is my telephone manner, as everybody will say. When the conversation is over, I hang up. I've offended people, I don't mean to. But there's no need to talk anymore, The conversation is over," Reid told me in an interview here.

When veteran Nevada columnist Jon Ralston wrote about Reid's surprise Friday announcement that he would retire at the end of his Senate term, the clearly stunned journalist explained it this way:

"How fitting that there was no buildup to his exit announcement, just a sudden ending.

"This guy just hung up on all of us."

From a certain perspective, I can appreciate the brevity. It is, after all, only a social convention.

The thing is, with almost any remote conversation, whether by phone or by text, for some reason it feels like you need to signal the end of the conversation before disconnect. It's one of those things that keeps the relationship running smoothly.

Yeah, I notice people hanging up on each other. Another thing that annoys me is how rude people are to detectives that show up to ask questions. It's so common in police procedurals, I think the same person writes every script. Sometimes the person is rude because they end up being the killer at the end, but even people who end up having nothing to do with the crime don't act the way you would expect people to act. If a couple detectives showed up at my house or at my job and wanted to ask questions, I would be really shocked, and stop what I was doing, go somewhere where we could sit down and talk, and answer their questions respectfully. But in the movies, the person keeps working, acts annoyed, answers questions sarcastically, walks around the office forcing the detectives to follow them while asking questions, and none of the co-workers seem surprised by any of it.
