Europe must get a handle on immigration to combat a growing threat from rightwing populists, Hillary Clinton has said, calling on the continent’s leaders to send out a stronger signal showing they are “not going to be able to continue to provide refuge and support”.

In an interview with the Guardian, the former Democratic presidential candidate praised the generosity shown by the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, but suggested immigration was inflaming voters and contributed to the election of Donald Trump and Britain’s vote to leave the EU.

“I think Europe needs to get a handle on migration because that is what lit the flame,” Clinton said, speaking as part of a series of interviews with senior centrist political figures about the rise of populists, particularly on the right, in Europe and the Americas.

“I admire the very generous and compassionate approaches that were taken particularly by leaders like Angela Merkel, but I think it is fair to say Europe has done its part, and must send a very clear message – ‘we are not going to be able to continue provide refuge and support’ – because if we don’t deal with the migration issue it will continue to roil the body politic.”

If Hillary and Trump are the only two nominees running for President in 2020 I will definitely vote for Hillary, even if only because she isn't Trump.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I'd vote for Hillary Clinton again. *shrugs* That said, I think the Democrats would be better to nominate a more charismatic candidate.

Yep, she'd win easily, and probably has the best chance of anyone to beat him. She'd get the 64 million voters who wanted her to be President just 2 years ago. They'd show up again because they feel disenfranchised after their majority vote failed. She'd also get some number of people who learned their lesson for electing Trump the first time. Bernie and these super progressives cannot win the minority vote which is their problem.

I don't know Kevin, I remember all the crowds Bernie had when he was talking up his progressive agenda and how Clinton needed the mainstream media/DNC to put its hand on the scale in order to win the nomination. How do you explain Clinton's extremely poor ratings post election?

https://www.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/18233NBCWSJApril2018Poll.pdf. Sure, she won the popular vote, because she was going against Trump. I don't think this would happen in any other circumstance. Isn't it time for a change? I don't think people want another neocon pushing us into an unwanted war with Iran. Surely, the Democrats can put up someone who people actually like?

How many minorities did you see at those Bernie events? Hillary absolutely hammered Bernie on the minority vote in numerous states that barely went blue like Nevada. But we are to believe they'd show up to vote for this old white guy when he runs against another old white guy? Hillary beat Sanders with the popular vote by more than 12 points. This idea that Sanders would get all of Hillary's voters simply because they don't want Trump is undermined by the fact that the prospect of a disastrous Trump presidency certainly didn't do much to prevent 7 million people from voting 3rd party.

Clinton's favorability is really irrelevant at this point since she has been out of the media for 2 years and hasn't campaigned for anything. But her drop in favorability has more to do with Republicans shifting farther to the Right than Democrats moving farther to the left. Her favorability among Democrats during the election was at 87% and then dropped to 76% the week after losing the election. It has hovered between 76-83% among Democrats since the election. Her favorability among Independents jumped 6% after the election but has since dropped down to around what it was in 2016. Where the significant drop has happened is among Republicans, where her favorability has been cut in half since the election, from 8% to 4%.

Bernie? as in the same Bernie that was the legitimate winner of the DNC nomination in 2016? a.k.a. the 2nd guy that beat Hillary (the 1st being Barack and 3rd being DJT).
Hillar is a death sentence for DNC, and the fact that anyone is entertaining the thought is a sas commentary on how rock bottome the DNC has become. No blue wave, check the results - the RNC has consolidated more state level power that has not been experienced in a century. Compund that with the current Pelosi struggle and geez....a slow train wreck is crashing into 2020.

While Democrats do not love Hillary, Trump is beloved by Republicans because he is the embodiment of all their values.

The Democrats need someone new.
