There is an interesting Dune miniseries adaptation starring William Hurt as the Duke. Ian McNeice as the Baron Harkonnen is a great take on the character. Here's a little snippet from YouTube. While this is a low-budget adaptation with a much smaller budget for production design, I think it does a better job of storytelling.

I finally watched it last night. I had low expectations due to allowing the original version to taint my opinion of the story, so this movie was a nice surprise. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Movie special effects these days... unreal, they're so real.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.
