It's over for John Gee

Post by Shulem »

UP in the Celestial Forum I have an amazing thread entitled:

Historical Predynastic Egypt vs. Book of Abraham False Narrative

Today, I just dropped a bomb on poor John Gee's lap.

He will not survive. He has no way of refuting me. He is over his head and has lost the game, completely. I beat him up. His apologetics has been obliterated in this thread. I invite everyone to check it out and get the facts and add the numbers up for yourselves.

That includes you, Backyard Professor. You too, Vogel! If you want to be on top of this game you've got to know the numbers. You've got to come to terms that it's Smith's origin story of *how* and *when* Egypt came into existence that proves his translations (whether literal or catalyst) were fraudulent lies on his part.

It's over for the Book of Abraham. And I don't give a damn or a rat's ass how thick the papyrus scroll was. That is all a complete waste of time and the apologists were grateful to the critics for getting sidetracked and taking their eyes off the ball. But no more. I've nuked the Book of Abraham and the Catalyst Theory has now been completely destroyed.

I'm afraid that 2023 will mark the end of the Book of Abraham as apologists scramble like lost disciples having no rudder to steer and are totally lost at sea -- shipwrecked.

It's pretty hilarious seeing Gee characterize his work as debunking "misinformation." The guy built a career concocting ever more elaborate misinterpretations of inconvenient facts.
And it is so easily demonstrated to boot.

And, I expect you to get your ass up in the Celestial Forum and digest that thread completely.

:D

You better if you know what's good for ya!

Alphus and Omegus,

You made some excellent comments in a post up in the Celestial Forum which I would like to paste here for reference. I would also like to state for the record that I thought of you while putting together the amazing thread mentioned earlier about how the origins of Egypt as explained in the Book of Abraham is a sham.

I'm sure you've probably mentioned this but the thread has so many pages that I haven't read them all (sorry!), but the king's name error is really part of a larger picture of Joseph Smith getting Egyptian history totally wrong.

It doesn't matter what scroll theory you want to believe. The canonized English text of the Book of Abraham is littered with scores of anthropological and historical errors: Egyptus; a person named Pharaoh; a statement that the Noahic Flood covered Egypt; total ignorance of "Kemet," the actual ancient Egyptian word for Egypt; totally wrong timelines, made up divine beings and words, I could go on and on.

In my opinion, the scroll obsessions are actually a red herring to get people to focus on debates about documents rather than the numerous inexcusable errors Smith made in his pronouncements about Egyptian culture, history, and language.

You are more than welcome to head up to the Celestial Forum and contribute or add anything you think would enhance the thread. And if not, that's okay too.

It’s really hard to take him seriously when every interview I see of him he’s just crying about being persecuted and maligned for his beliefs.

It’s not your beliefs, John. It’s your scholarship we are attacking.

When it comes to integrity, values, and respect -- John Gee has none when he attempts to justify Smith's explanation of Egypt's origins as being credible from an Egyptological point of view. John Gee is every much a liar as Joseph Smith was. Defending lies is not an honorable way to spend one's life. He will go down in history as an Egyptologist who misrepresented Egyptian history in the worst possible way. E. A. Wallis Budge is probably rolling in his grave.

I am afraid that John Gee has a lot to answer for! Repent of your ways, Mr. Gee! Start by being honest!

John has certainly contributed to the anti-Mormon sentiment held by more than half of professors.

Besides DCP, I can't think of a more crappy scholar. For God's sake, Deseret Book even refused to sell John Gee's book. How low can you go?

DCP is a prick. He's also a liar.

Thanks. I've been meaning to get time to check out your thread. Will do so today.

Apologists can be entertaining in their own way.

If I had some offbeat theory that I really thought had something to it, and I really, really believed it was true, I'd put more effort into trying to understand the establishment and how to communicate and prove my findings. However, if I knew deep down that I had nothing, I'd probably throw a fit and grandstand about persecution. In the case of the apologist, there are ready-made sympathizers in the form of their fellow believers, and that's really who the apologists are writing to.

Gee's has demonstrated that what he means by misinformation is anyone or anything that disagrees with him.

Exactly. He made his Ph.D into an apologetic disaster.

Look, Mr. Gay was either going to fund a professor's chair in Book of Abraham apologetics or Bigfootology.
