I think it is supposed to be reminiscent of the murder of Laban by Nephi. The high-leg spearing technique relates more to Brazilian capoeira than ballet, suggesting a connection to the Hebrew mamushka.
Moksha, now none of us will ever again be able to hear the legend of Teancum's assassination of Amalickiah (or of Nephi's whacking of Laban) around the campfire without Addams family imagery choreographing the scenes in our minds!

Definitely advances my belief that as the Roman Empire persecuted Christians only to become Christian, the Mormon Church will be the gay religion of the 22nd century, if not sooner. I imagine that many of the brethren are secretly enjoying this and waiting in the wings for their time to blossom.
