Republicans just proposed legislation to give Trump $1.4 billion for his ballroom. His ballroom that was originally estimated to cost $200 million. His ballroom that would be funded entirely by private donations.

Remember that one time the fed was investigated (and the chair was indicted) because some renovations ended up costing less than 2 times the original estimate. Surely seven times the original estimate will mean there will be investigations and indictments galore, right? Of course, all of the fiscal conservatives who purport to care about "waste, fraud, and abuse" will now totally flee from MAGA, right? Riiiight???

To put the $1.4 billion -- for Trump's 90,000 sq.ft. ballroom -- into perspective. Adjusted for inflation, that's less than it cost to build South Point, with its 70,000 sq.ft. of ballrooms and meeting centers, 80,000 sq.ft. column-free expo center, 137,232 sq ft casino, accompanying 25-story hotel with 2,163 rooms (with multiple 2,500 sq.ft. 2-bedroom luxury suites), equestrian arena (with 4,400 seats, and 1,600 horse stalls), 90,000 sq.ft. 64-lane tournament bowling center, six restaurants, and 400-seat showroom.
