Re: Oh the hypocrisy of Provo professors!!!!
When requesting something from me, be at least minimally civil if you really want what you've requested. If you don't really want what you've requested, continue to behave in the juvenile and insulting manner that you typically do.
The Church has issued statements expressing its position. You can find them as easily as I can. As for what I've been told behind the scenes, you can't.

DCP
The Church always has a side.. its just usually misleading.
DCP
Interesting..
So you are privy to behind the scenes information (of course..) – then you must be aware then of current Jewish resentments on the topic and you make the statement two posts up: “ The Church has worked with the Jewish community on this matter in good faith.” Which is clearly misleading !! Color me shocked!
More on the issue..

God has the right to create and to destroy, to make like and to kill. He can delegate this authority if he wishes to. I know that can be scary. Deal with it.

You're free, of course, to reject the Church's side of the story, with or without giving it a fair hearing.
But there is, as there usually is, another side to every story.

To a certain extent, yes.

Actually, from what I know of the case, I think it precisely accurate.

I color you knee-jerk hostile.

So. You've produced nothing to back up your claim. Color me utterly anti-shocked.

Daniel Peterson
Its not accurate as you sought to portray the LDS church as working with Jewish groups when the reality is they are upset with Church inactions. And you knew it.
by the way, There is nothing hostile about calling someone on the carpet for being misleading as you have demonstrated. Again.

Naah. It'll stay as one of those mysterious references whose obscurity is a continual reminder to the rest of us to look forward with fearful anticipation to the day of final and definitive demonstration of the wrongness of all his interlocutors, when the secrets of all DCPs shall be revealed.

The Church has issued public statements on this. They're on line. You can read them.
I believe them to be honest, sincere, and accurate.

OK. So basically everything needed for us to form a fair estimate of what has occurred is in the public domain. That is refreshing.

Postscript.
Promises Unfulfilled:
In a 1995 agreement, the Church agreed to limit their posthumous baptism practice of Jews — of all Jews, not just Holocaust victims — to only direct ancestors of Mormons. Instead of implementing promises made, the Church has engaged in a course of unfulfilled promises, a record of decisions adopted and then abandoned, and an apparent wish to undo what they have agreed to.
See 'Mormons, Jews Sign Agreement On Baptizing Holocaust Victims' (7pp) Click here.
The wrongful posthumous baptism of Jewish dead continues, despite denials by the Mormon leadership. Independent researcher Helen Radkey prepared three reports describing her discoveries which demonstrate that thousands of Holocaust victims have been posthumously baptized since 1995.

2. Report of Oct. 8, 2008, (1p) Click here
3. Comprehensive report of Oct. 31, 2008, (61pp) Click here
We urge the Church to:
Comply with the 1995 agreement.
Cease the ongoing wrongful baptisms of the Jewish dead.
Constitute a task force to search and expunge from all baptismal records, all wrongful baptisms of the Jewish dead.
If you feel a special connection to those who have gone before you and an increased responsibility to those who will follow, you will insist on removal of their names from the baptismal lists.
