That's a big part of it, but a bigger part of it is that most of you guys just aren't very productive. You guys just odn't make very much money so there is very little to tax, but you have plenty of old and poor people who can't take care of themselves, so your state enjoys a river of income for welfare, medicade, medicare, social security benefits, etc.

My particular section of the state doesn't have coal mines and is Republican. Our area was gerrymandered to fit the objectives of the democratic labor party that rules the coal mining areas. You're right that the state isn't very productive. Voting democrat has that kind of effect on a state. No business will go there. And yes, many people go to WV to retire to escape the problems of the city, the same type of problems that George Zimmerman was dealing with. Land is cheap, they don't have to be in Washington D.C. every morning to go to work, so why wouldn't they?
What can I say about some people. Their motto is that if the government won't do it, it doesn't need done. But living alongside a poor lazy democrat hillbilly is nothing compared to living around people willing to rob you at gunpoint.
