I wouldn't blame you for a single second for leaving the U.S. if Trump wins re-election. If all my people weren't here, I'd happily go get lost in the UK. Of course, they aren't letting us in right now because our s-hithole country made their s-hit list.
I thought about the UK, but I'd be trading Trump for Boris Johnson. Not really an upgrade there.

I feel sorry for all Americans not in the GOP base. I'd like to stick around and help, but the morons have taken over the asylum.

It's funny/sad that this once great nation attracted immigrants from all over the world wanting to take part in the American experiment, but now are being turned away by ignorant xenophobes. The racists couldn't handle sharing a once great nation, so they decided to turn it into sh-it so nobody wants to come here or stay.

Like I said; the idiots win. Fu-ck 'em. They can have this sh-it. I don't care anymore. It's not what it once was.

Mexico doesn't want Americans coming to Mexico. They're like, Your country's leadership on COVID-19 is non-existent. Keep your diseased-ridden citizens out of our country. It's safer in Mexico. That's where we are today.
Johnson, yeah I know. I picture myself hiding out in Edinburgh. I dream about that place. It felt just like home to me.

In any case...I just read something on our local Facebook group that I am both surprised and yet not at all surprised about. I don't know exactly how to say this but here goes. We live in a rural outlying area. It's not exactly a town, okay? It's an area with a name. It's remote. We have slower than desirable responses from LE. I would say that 90% of area residents are armed. I'm not exaggerating. It's basically an area where residents moved in to be left the hell alone but at the same time, we all look out for each other.

Example. Last month, a guy was reported (within the community) coming up on people's property and hanging around. In one case, a teen had gone out leaving the door unlocked and came back to this guy in the house stealing s-hit. In any case, coming up on people's property really isn't advisable around here because like one person said, when she's up late at night with insomnia (this isn't me, by the way) she's online at her desk and has a "clean shot" right through her front window. We all knew what she meant. That's code for a homeowner who is armed. Within three days, the guy was arrested. Why? Because of residents sharing information regarding every sighting, including the guy's name (he gave out business cards to people for some reason) and plate numbers, getting on his Facebook and finding out he had an upcoming court date, and handing it all over to LE and pressuring them in the sense that if you don't take care of this guy, some homeowner is going to take care of him. Apparently they took him into custody at the courthouse. That's how well connected the grapevine is in this disconnected area. He's lucky he didn't get his ass shot out here.

So what I saw was a call to form a prepper and defense group. That's right. The community is now talking about organizing it's own grass roots militia if you will in case "all hell breaks loose". People have recommended the LDS church for food storage information, some are coming out of the woodwork with various bits of advice on how to function off grid---which isn't unusual because many or most of us are prepared to live off grid during winter storms. Someone made a suggestion about AR's. The thing is, though, is that the state supreme court just upheld a ban on 15 round mags so I don't know what the status is on owning mags for AR's. Also discussing how to set up ham radios for communication.

But...my point here is to show that people are expecting chaos to ensue. I know that preppers have always thought this could happen which is why they are preppers but this is the first time in my life I myself ever considered that all hell could actually break loose. I guess I should take comfort in the fact that the residents here want to take care of our own, so to speak. Here on the Jersey homestead, we've always been prepared to take care of our own in various ways (we don't discuss what we're able to do here but we can do quite a lot in terms of sustaining ourselves) including being able to accommodate the whole tribe moving in if need be to ride something out.

Anyway, grassroots report from the trenches over here. People are getting really worried about the increasing civil unrest and political/government crap that they see going on . The community is now discussing putting our wagons in a circle because it believes that s-hits getting real.

ETA: Part of me can't believe what I just posted about and then again, part of me thinks it makes all the sense in the world right now because I have never seen the world as it is in it's current state of being.

Cam if you are reading here can you comment on this part of my post?

Someone made a suggestion about AR's. The thing is, though, is that the state supreme court just upheld a ban on 15 round mags so I don't know what the status is on owning mags for AR's.

I didn't read the court decision and something tells me you're going to advise me in that direction but...if 15 round mags are now banned...what does that do to AR ownership and use? What about folks who already have a stock of magazines? They can't use them? They have to turn them in? I can't see legal gun owners owning an AR and dumping off the ammunition over at the police station. What gives on this kind of ruling? Any insight to share?

Jersey Girl,

I'm sorry, but I don't know much about it and I'm too lazy to google it because it's a topic that's fairly far from my interests. I mean, I've fired virtually every weapon that's out there, some to a degree of proficiency, but I'm not a big gun guy - if I had my way I'd get rid of the Second Amendment.

Well I do respect the honesty. But you don't own a shop in one our major ciries being burned and looted with a police department soon to be dismantled.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

The real riddle here is how much of this cynical treatment is intentional and how much of it is GOP pols being fu-cking morons themselves.
That's a real conundrum to be sure. On the one hand, we have GOP pols taking deliberate advantage of diehard Trumpers' stupidity, and on the other hand the fact that nothing makes stupid people double and triple down on their stupidity harder than exposing their stupidity.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Well, I've been fairly consistent on that position since posting here. I grew up in a merchant family, and I'm living very close to downtown SLC where a lot of things that terrify you are close by. If I were a merchant in a city that's being burned and looted I'd either move or take passive measures to mitigate my risks. There are also tax deductions they can take for theft in addition to insurance. But I don't know if that'd be worth it to me, because I saw first hand how theft affects a family. They don't recover from theft and damages easily, if at all.

Anyway. I certainly wouldn't blow someone away because I find that abhorrent.

Weird how most other countries do much better than us without a second amendment in both crime and violence. Of course, the second amendment never meant what modern day rednecks thought it meant. It's basically a figment of their imaginations.

I believe the number of new cases daily that I first posted on this thread was from June 19. Here is where we are as of Jul 9, with new daily cases. Just going to add the total from a day in May for comparison.

May 11: 18,517

Jun 19: +33,090
Jul 9: +63,749

I disagree with
@CDCgov
on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools. While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!

In Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and many other countries, SCHOOLS ARE OPEN WITH NO PROBLEMS. The Democrats think it would be bad for them politically if U.S. schools open before the November Election, but is important for the children & families. May cut off funding if not open!
