Was it a 501(c)3 prior to joining BYU?

Do you think Dan will try to start another organization like FARMS?

I have often been accused of being a stalker of the women on this board. Of course this is not true. But I do think that DCP does have a lot of stalkers on this board. Maybe some of you need to look in the mirror and evaluate yourselves a little.

If I were he, I would. He has strong donor contacts, obviously. He has the bona fides, has built up a very solid reputation among those who like what he does. A number of GAs would be happy to see it continue, and they could run interference for him with those that don't.

I don't see why things have to change all that much, except for the BYU home for what he does.

It would take a lot of work, but I imagine he could construct a kind of FARMS II, where he could continue to publish a book review of the kind he deems most appropriate and effective.

A Mormon apologetics journal at Claremont?

I think Dans true colours are beginning to show...

I feel obliged to try to make it a good trip and to go, but it will, I think, be my last effort on behalf of the Maxwell Institute, and I won't solicit a nickel more for the Institute from any donors. Given their interests, I think their money should go elsewhere. And, though I won't be so disloyal as to solicit funds from them for anything else during the trip to Turkey, I will feel entirely free to do so thereafter. And I'll be vocal about why I no longer regard the Maxwell Institute as an appropriate recipient of their money. I will explain my resignation, and my reasons for it, in a note to members of the Development Council after the conclusion of the Turkey trip but prior to the October PLC meeting. I do not feel that I can do otherwise and maintain my integrity. I've built up a good relationship with the members of the Smith Family Foundation; good luck in maintaining that.

As the (former?) co-editor of the Claremont Journal of Mormon Studies I am quite interested in what you mean by this. Care to expound?

I did not mean to imply it would be an apologetics journal. It would be the only hard core academic journal out there to publish some of the items the Review might have published. Dialogue is more of a social commentary. The apologetic void would be filled by FAIR.

Kind of like filling up garbage can with garbage.

So you say.

Do people really read what academics publish? I don't think so. FARMS Review is very well read, for an academic journal of sorts.
