Here's my question - I can see editing out identifiable "real life" information, such as full names, addresses, etc., but editing out gender references? Is this a board policy? Where does it end? We're all grown ups here.
In this particular case, GoodK came on the board and made him/herself known as an acquaintance of rcrocket's. Any fallout from that is of his/her own making. Editing someone's post to remove gender identification in that case seems particularly silly.
In this case she's just enforcing an agreement I made with it. I must have slipped in one of my posts.
My avatar picture is of Ayaan Hirshi Ali, I don't think I ever implied it was a picture of me - in fact, someone has recognized that picture here before. I was more concerned with remaining anonymous than I was correcting people or proclaiming my gender. And since there is only one son in my family, I felt like keeping that safe.
I have no comment regarding crockett and his actions here, I think this thread demonstrates things quite well.
Read up on Ayaan Hirshi Ali, she is a wonderful lady.
I was just thinking that the best reason to remain anonymous on these boards is that it prevents something you said from causing problems for you, if someone who knows you decides to share that information in a hurtful manner.
Knowing that, I wonder if those pushing for non-anonymity are hoping for a freezing effect on the free flow of thought on these boards.

Should I refer to everybody (everything?) in the threads as he/she/it ? Additionally, we (hungarians) have no pronouns for different genders. We are differentiating (in grammar) subjectives by human/nonhuman.
Racism!
nb. Both being on my avatar are male. FYI.

I chopped my head off and it grew back. As proof I present the fact that I'm still posting.
Don't want to be the first to tell you, but a crucial part may have never grown back.
(j/k, couldn't resist such an opening)
I know, but who really needs a large fleshy growth in the middle of their face? Noses are overrated.

Ya makes sense, don't it? Of course Brother Crockett would find that to be cowardly.

There's thought on these boards?
