...it had known about the allegations for 30 years, and known for sure for at the least the last 3 months that the allegations were sufficiently true to know that there was no doubt a tragic betrayal of standards had occurred sufficient to warrant summary excommunication of the perpetrator. Yet still the Church sought first to cover-up and then when the cover-up was blown wide open, to cast doubt on the victim and suggest the perpetrator may not have done what the Church already knew for sure he had done.

Think about that: The Church said this week "If the allegations are true..." despite trying to pay the victim off because the allegations had been confirmed 3 months ago.
The Church's response to this across the last 30 years, and it's most recent response and attempted cover-up/deflection/victim blaming, is an institutional atrocity.The Church facilitates and protects sexual abusers. And will lie in public to do so. Anybody who votes in April to sustain the leadership behind this response to sexual abuse, is equally culpable.
I can find no evidence of the Deseret News reporting on this story, which suggests they are actively complicit in Church cover-ups.

The truly disturbing aspect of all of this are all of those #metoo's out there who cannot speak out now because of NDA's from years ago.
Ok, speculation on my part, but this victim simply slipped between the cracks of an otherwise long list of successful suppressions.

One of the reasons for not publishing financial records is that we would seehow many millions and millions of dollars they've spent hiding the problem they point blank refuse to address.
