To be fair, there are still a good number of desalination plants and girls’ schools left to blow up. Gotta make sure that we sate MAGA’s appetite for death and destruction. The US is led by a closed clique of Trump loyalists who did not realise that closing the strait of Hormuz was an obvious and easily executed retaliation tactic for the Iranians? Lord help the US, and the rest of us too.

The 'closed clique' point is an important one: Trump does not like to hear the advice of people who might tell him inconvenient things. So he no longer takes the expert advice of military experts before launching actions of the kind he launched on Iran. Since his first term we already knew that he does not read briefing papers, and prefers short word of mouth - but his 'nobody expected this' claim shows that he is now getting NO direct advice from the US military.

And he is the commander in chief. Doesn't look good, does it?
