The aside joke to that is that when Spencer Kimball was called, he was shocked. He thought the leaders would never risk another Kimball in the leadership after J. Golden. (insert smiley here)

I've always liked that quote from J. Golden. Of course, Joseph Smith prophesied that Frederick G. Williams's posterity would be great leaders in the church; and my patriarchal blessing says I'll serve in the highest quorums of the priesthood.

I'm still waiting for the call. ;)

You should know my reply to that, Run. After all, I'm a "predictable mopologist".

Doesn't make me feel good or bad. It just is what it is: an old-boys network made of prominent families and social and business connections. Always has been since the days when the Smith and Whitmer families ran everything.

And there was time when leaders-in-the-middle have been whining about to be too many Smiths in the highest leadership.

Nah, 'cronism' would only be accurate if they were old women instead of old men. ^_^

In this case, a very old boy network.

Don't forget: Bednar named a building after Gordon B. Hinckley, and presto! Instant apostleship.
