Because you're willing to give Joseph Smith as many "get out of jail free" cards as he needs. You know, the sort of "get out of jail free" cards that you would never dream of giving to Warren Jeffs, L. Ron Hubbard, Jim Jones, David Koresh, or Marshall Applewhite.

I, on the other hand, am consistent: I don't give free passes to any religious leader, including my own.

What do you think you have that would shake my faith?

It's not a question of getting you to shake your faith. It's a question of getting you to consider why, exactly, Joseph Smith, Jr. gets free passes from you even though no other religious guru does.

Why is that, anyway?

In other words, Shades' testimony is a very weak argument.

No, my "testimony" isn't an argument at all. It simply is what it is.

What does all this have to do with I Nephi 12:18, anyway? It's like you copied-&-pasted a random line from my website for no reason whatsoever.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

In spite of it all, I'm happy that there was at least one item in the "party line" which I never bought, not even for a second. The Church teaches that its members shouldn't read "anti-Mormon" literature. I didn't fall for that, since if the Church is true, it'll stay true no matter what one reads, right?

Right. So how come I am still a TBM after having read more antiMormon literature than you can shake a stick at? What do you think you have that would shake my faith?

You're a TBM still because you have willingly subverted your own rational mind to protect a cherished belief system.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen
