I wonder if they know. Or care.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

It makes perfect sense, Liz, because this is what happened to Simon Southerton (though I think Simon has recently published some over-board criticisms, I raised the subject of his excommunication on FAIR a while ago). No matter how "inactive" you are, if you stir a hornet's nest - expect to be severely and even retroactively bitten if you still retain membership.

All I can say to this is, apart from "wow!".......who in hell would risk going to BYU?

No offense meant to those who did, including you, but if that is their policy I'd say the institution's name is well deserved.

THE CHAD HARDY/BYU CONTROVERSY GOES NATIONAL

The nationally-syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show just covered the Chad Hardy/BYU Degree controversy. So now LOTS of people across America know about it.

I wonder if other venues will pick up on it now.

Just what the church needs: more publicity. Perhaps it's a good thing that Mitt didn't get the nomination. The press would have crucified him for this.

The story was written up in USA Today:

This whole situation is unfortunate. I received two degrees from BYU in the biological sciences. My education and experience are competitive in the job market. I have absolutely no qualms with the quality of education I gained at BYU. That said, I disagree with BYU's policy regarding Chad Hardy's diploma. Give the guy his diploma for whatever online courses he finally completed and whatever business classes he took and get rid of him. Not doing so only gives this douchebag more time in the spotlight to crap on BYU and try to make it look like an illegitimate university. There are lots of policies at BYU that I personally disagree with, but it is still an accredited institution of higher learning. And who gets into the damned calendar making business anyway? Classy.
