By the way, I did read the thread at MAD, and I agree with the impression expressed by beastie and other posters: the population of that board seems to be changing, and I do not think we would have seen an LGT/Mesoamerican linked thread like that on MAD a couple of years ago.
Numbers do come into it, certainly, but so does the matter of the tone and quality (or lack of it) of the posts. For instance we now see the first shoots of the notion that "The Brethren" and "The Academics" are somehow opposed; that post was quickly stamped on, but I can't remember ever having seen that kind of thing stated on MAD before. Will it become more common as Meldrum's influence grows? I don't know, but the interest of this phenomenon is almost enough to make me start visiting MAD regularly. But not quite.
