What were religious people supposed to do? Many catholics interviewed were against same sex marriage but they had no vote. The liberal gay agenda did not want a democratic debate and voter participation because they knew they would lose.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith
However on this board it is no surprise that there would be celebration about this. Any moral code that would go against the LDS church would be approved on this board. Every body is still a zebra but they wear their stripes differently.

why me wrote: Their was no proposition before the electorate. And there was a reason for that. Any proposition that would have approved of same sex marriage would have been voted down. However, if one does it this way, undemocratically, there is a better chance of a win for the same sex marriage side.
Church members would have been involved if there were a proposition about same sex marriage.
Underlining added.
So, why me, do you believe that laws that are passed by Congress are also undemocratic?
This is how a representative democracy works. Please read the U.S. constitution.
New York doesn't have the proposition system California does Why Me, so you wouldn't see a replay of that. Glad to see you are opposed to all laws not passed by popular referendum but by the legislature, though. What's that? You're not? Only those that you disagree with? Oh.

People being given basic human rights regardless of sexuality is long overdue. The Church will shift it's ground on this topic, belatedlyand under duress, but it will move. Then your argument will have to be that same sex marriage is okay because Mormon God has now said it's okay.

Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right.
Per Full Faith and Credit provisions of our laws won't Utah and the others have to recogniz the marriages... or will lose in court when their non-recognition is challenges to the Supreme Court of the US?

DOMA is meant to prevent that, but DOMA is constitutionally dubious on this point. It'll snake its way through the courts and probably end up at the Supreme Court.

The senators and representatives are elected as representatives of the voters. Also, the US is not a democracy. The States are not either.
l-dsince does not believe what it preaches and it shows quite well here. Not one word. tubbietommie the hypocrite missed the revelation and still silent voice to even speak on this one. What... too busy trying to find new widow ladies to glom cookies from?

There are many who no longer believe and are apposed to SSM. Also I haven't seen anyone here cheer about murder, stealing, etc.
Do you ever get tired of the false assertions you seem to be always making?

A fair point.
What, exactly, were those opposed to gay marriage supposed to do?
I suppose they could have still made an outcry, regardless if they had a vote or not.
