I think Utah wards in particular are stuffed with a lot of closeted gay men. Out in the mission field I think they tend to go off and be themselves outside the church, due to lessened social pressure.

These things have been associated with a decrease in the male hormone testosterone:

1) Lack of sex. Could apply to a lot of Mormon men out there.

2) Lack of thinking about sex. Okay, relates to #1 but more on the cognitive level.

3) Obesity. Drives down testosterone (visceral fat produces estrogen which inhibits testosterone).

4) Lack of exercise.

5) lack of sleep and stress.

6) Feeling like a loser.

If a lot of Utah men suffer from these sorts of things then it could explain why they might come across as effeminate. Does not make them any gayer, just less competitive, virile and motivated.

I think there is a ton of truth to this. Plus, they are encouraged to cry, share their emotions and be followers.
