What is the difference between your god and your satan?
The difference between God, as I understand Him, and Satan, is that God wants as many of us as possible to have as much happiness and joy in the long run as we can, and Satan wants to mess up people's lives, have as little happiness and joy as he can keep us from having.
There are definitely some things about good and evil that I don't understand. God can say, "Trust me on this one; it may look to you like <Path X> will lead to long term happiness, but in my greater wisdom I can see that <Path Y> will actually lead to more happiness," and I can see myself yielding to God's view. But there has to be some way of telling the difference between God and Satan, so it's unwise to just pick a deity and have blind faith that everything said deity tells me will be true.
I have chosen the eternal fate of the enemies of God as a litmus test to let me know whether a potential deity is good or evil. I certainly can't think of a better litmus test to use. Can anyone else?
