I've never once been reprimanded by an LDS authority for having, expressing, or publishing supposedly "heterodox" views, many of which I have discussed amicably with my bishops and stake presidents, including the son of a current prophet.

I don't think there are any committed, long-time LDS members who fit perfectly this model of "orthodoxy" that we sometimes pretend exists.

-Follow up Question-

Do the Members of your Ward even acknowledge that these boards exist? Would you bold enough to say TBMs don't have an opinion on what is discussed in this type of forum?

I rarely discuss message boards with members of my ward, much less specific ones such as this one. It just never comes up. The majority of people I associate it with have probably never been part of a message board (except maybe to get warranty help or something).

That's not to say members of my wards haven't been familiar with controversial issues. Conversations among members occur in corridors besides these online forums.

I don't really remember. Something about the Book of Mormon not necessarily being a super-literal, tight word-for-word translation of the gold plates.

Blasphemy!

Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07

That hardly qualifies as controversial. Call me when you discuss the Book of Abraham and how that isn't a translation at all...Then I will bestow upon you the title of 'Maverick'.

So the English words on luminescent, magic parchment above the stone in the crown of the hat was supernatural, but not exactingly correct? Why is that?

The devil's in the details.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

What does "/that upset guy in your class" mean?

A Predominant LDS attorney Mr. Sigefired signed his name then wrote "/MF" (which i'm guessing means Mormon Forever) at the end of a correspondence. I still have the letter in my records. I do realize Mormons are "devout" in their faith, first to lower themselves to violent horrific acts, most want to see me dead, but he didn't need to rub it in my face like that. I just gave him my story about the "[i]misplaced[/i" documents.

Perhaps Mr. Sigefired should ask an Apostle, Gov. Huntsman or Gov. Hubert how familiar they are with the sound of a dial-up modem?
