That board, single handily crushed my testimony.

Will you start a thread and tell that story? I would love to hear it.

no question, and the apologetics of individuals such as Mike Ash (likely a nice person) which is essentially a piling of message board thoughts have managed to scare numerous readers.

It would have been better if they just stated: 'I don't know' instead of speculating.

I am not sure if anyone had the experience of going to the FAIR LDS site and searching topics as a believing LDS (I did) and as you look at one topic a bunch of more issues keep arising until you find there are not really any substantive answers just rhetoric, albeit boring rhetoric, hoping to satisfy the visitor. I believe the goal of the site is just to develop answers to questions just so members can have the assurance that there is an answer even if the answer has nothing to do with the question.

the FAIR wiki made me uneasy as a believer, because I could see they didn't have good answers to a lot of questions.

+1 you should tell your story, start another thread.

If you are going to FAIR instead of God for answers, you are probably out the door already as a member. Mormonism is an absurd belief without God really showing up and talking with you. I'd think a belief in Star Wars or LOTR would be just as valid if not more so if you basing it off the mythos (and searching the internet for answers).

God was even more inconsistent than FAIR. God has confirmed to me that the church is true, and also that it is not true. As an experiment, I prayed to Elvis and got similar feelings from him (no, really).

And it's an absurd belief any way you look at it.

Embracing the false doctrine of "feelings" in determing the truth is just nuts. Any sane normal person that had a pair of lunatics show up at their door proclaiming a belief that someone had seen God, angels, a flaming sword, gold plates, and stating a magic book proves it is true would be justified in slamming the door and calling the police. I'm shocked and amazed at Mormons that believe any of that non-sense for so long without experiencing any of it themselves. There is just no reason to do so. It is patently absurd, pure fiction and outside our normal experiences.

I'm sorry, but I don't have the unbalanced chemical composition in my brain necessary to see visions. "Feelings" are all I'm capable of experiencing of the divine, without external pharmaceutical assistance.

People have been going to God for a long time. You were not even a believer when you think God came to you. Why is God not coming to members? I don't don't know any except a few kooky ones who even claim to have seen or heard God. You still avoid my question about how you know for certain doctrines in the church are wrong. Is God not coming to you anymore and you don't want to admit you are using the same methods as everyone else in different religions.
