I see you have both bases covered.

Not really. I know there are some who go along with it, because they feel they ought to, but that number is not very large, relatively speaking.

There are those who are trying to move up some latter, it seems, and come off as disingenuous too, but they're fully enjoying themselves.

I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!"

Your post reminded me of a line out of Kate Chopin's Story of an Hour,
"She breathed a quick prayer that life might be long. It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long."
"The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.” Psalm 145:18-19 ESV

This strikes me as a variation on blaming the member for church being boring.

Instead, we can blame other churches for being more boring.

I don't see how this addresses the situation in the LDS Church, though.

Lets face it: people are boring speakers in general. Most are not trained in public speaking. So, it can be a little boring. But all this needs to be considered and we need to give people some slack. Are you such a draw as a speaker? Are your talks exciting?

Also, we need to realize the laity don't have much time to make talks too interesting. They go through the motion in their research for their talks but they are not a joyce meyer or a joel olsteen.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

It is my experience that they are "boring" because of the absence of any expository preaching. I think the same can be said of Mormon General Conference. Just my view.

+a lot of numbers.

consig clearly has a rhetorical mastery that eludes, oh, some posters notable not for their wit, wisdom or cogency, but for their bombastic logorrhea and persistence in hitting the same note over and over. "Brevity is the soul of wit," while not a stylistic law, is at least an observation that eludes them.

Oh, and Consig- I didn't mean you should die when I implored you to go to heaven. I meant you should avoid hell on earth at all costs.
