Tchild and Bishop Everybody Wang Chung have offered some excellent advice here, quark. Perhaps resigning would bring a formal conclusion to your anxieties. Only you can tell.

On the other hand, maybe your own soul-searching will be enough to lead to self forgiveness.

As you know one's position on things can change drastically through time. I never imagined I would become interested in religious history and spiritual issues. But I find these things playing a larger role in my thinking these days and I don't really know where I will "end up." At this point, I'm probably close to being a "convinced Quaker," which if I understand correctly is the category for someone who takes up Quaker belief but has yet to formally ask admittance to a Society of Friends. Will I ever do this? I don't know. I feel like I've only begun maybe, possibly, being some kind of "seeker."

Give yourself time and keep reading!
