Re: Joseph Smith's White Horse Prophecy
Several older LDS (60s/70s) I am in contact with (once a week) spoke of the constitution hanging by a thread and that if Obama is re-elected it will be the end of the world. This was in the past month or two.

Here is some information from Sandra Tanner's site. Before the TBM's go crazy over my quoting Ms. Tanner, let me just say that she actually did a pretty decent job of summarizing both sides of the issue.

I don't mean to derail but we don't seem to have any TBMs left here who post on any regular basis, especially in this forum. I am sure I'll be accused of the "no True Scotsman" fallacy, but what defenders we have seem to be mostly trolling and their beliefs and actions do not resemble any TBMs I know.
Is it any wonder there are no TBMs? There are so many Mormon haters here, so much vitriol that TBMs just stay away, and all you end up with instead are guys like Droopy and bcspace--in other words, fanatics and extremists. (And in Droopy's case, I'm not convinced he is even real. He does so much damage to the church image, damage which is not offset by anything positive that I can see.)

Having recently had contact with a crazy Mormon-hater in real life, I have a glimmer of understanding of what you see.
The next six months are going to get quite interesting.

I am Muir of Rowallen and I be kickin yer arse on the TBM notion being the ONLY TBM on earth. Even though the Mormons disavow me.
The entire White Horse Prophecy is bogus by the way.

Nightlion, I am curious as to exactly why you feel the prophecy is bogus. Do you feel it is bogus because you don't believe that Joseph Smith actually made the prophecy, or do you feel it is bogus simply because it is an unrealistic prophecy?

I bow down to your TBMishnesss and acknowledge the error of my ways.

Re: Joseph Smith's White Horse Prophecy
I've been interested in the idea of the WHP and the Mormon idea if the US Constitution being in danger with Romney running. Personally I think a lot of LDS still believe in this and wanted to learn more.
This blog post I think did good job of gathering sources:

I aslo found the Mormon Expression podcast on the idea helpful:

Sorry, I am trying to locate my Prophecy Key To The Future: by Duane Crowther, where I THINK the entire WHP is quoted. In my old copy I am fairly certain it was. Or somewhere else in my old days of research I found a complete copy. So far nothing in this thread has come close to the entire text. I'll go check in my storage unit.
