When they had Prius owners smell their own farts, that was a pretty clear indication of their justifiable disdain for a certain kind of liberal.Gadianton wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 3:41 pmA long time ago Trey Parker in an interview was asked about politics. He said something to the effect of, they hate liberals and conservatives both, but they really hate liberals. There is no question that their small-town molded minds were biased against liberals for the greater part of their careers. They've probably explored the predictable (but real) theme of intolerance by tolerance more than anybody else. Because of how crass they are, there is no question that A-Mike/Hound and Binger were both South Park fans at one point. I was a fan from the beginning, although it took a few episodes before I could get through the bathroom humor and see the greater truth. Interesting how things change. Anyone with at least room-temperature intelligence and a sense of humor would be hard pressed to keep that conservative bias going as conservativism began to bear out its worst beginning with the Tea Party movement. And I don't just mean evil, but leaving themselves wide open to be made fun of. As H pointed out a while back, in today's version of conservativism, there is no such thing as humor. There literally are no funny conservatives on the earth today.

Marc Maron said in an interview recently is that the problem right wing comics have is pounding on the same 4 topics over and over (trans/woke/cancel culture/liberals), and if you aren't in the conservative news bubble, the jokes make no sense. He also said Trump won, as though the people voted against all those things, so these guys are hacks because they can't move on from those topics. They want to complain when they don't have it to complain about anymore. Right-wing complaining based on fantasy isn't new, but it makes for horrible comedy.
Your audience will not laugh if they don't relate to what you're saying. Comedy requires truth.
ETA: This applies to anyone, including the South Park guys. I loved the movie Team America: World Police but the part at the end where they have Matt Damon just retardedly repeating his own name wasn't funny to me, because Matt Damon isn't remotely retarded. They admitted afterward they did it on a whim (based on the way the Damon puppet came out) and that it doesn't really work.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.
