A few small typos in a dissertation are not necessarily a bad thing. They can help the candidate during defense by giving the review committee something to criticize. The advantage for the review committee is that they don't have to keep coming up with (mostly) irrelevant questions if there are no problems with the thesis. Any remaining allotted time can be spent correcting typos.

The EdD in ed leadership is a professional degree that usually doesn't require a full-blown dissertation. I haven't looked at it, but my guess is that this is a paper that's part of a final project or something. If that's the case, it'd be nothing like the dissertation required for a PhD.
