I'm relieved to read that. Please forgive me for being too quick to judgment. My rage at Trump, in general, especially as triggered by today's events, has made me hyper judgmental.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 12:11 amGunnar, that's PRECISELY what I meant. Hence the reason for my comment, "Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." Maybe I should've put the word "pure" in front of the word "democracy."
The sheep in this scenario = the minorities in a purely democratic society.

No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Re: The Party of Sedition
Interesting point. I've been listening to a constitution expert, who says what happened today has NOT happened in this country for centuries. He says correctly charging someone with insurrection depends upon not only intent to incite violence, but also the likelihood that such violence would occur. He says he would be hard pressed to define what happened today as anything other than insurrection, which he said, if I heard him correctly, has not happened in this country in more than a Century.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Wed Jan 06, 2021 11:19 pmYou shouldn't interpret the things I've said that way. My only message is that if the breakdown of law and order is dismiss-able in one instance, then it darn well better be dismiss-able in all other instances, too. . . regardless of politics.
(NOTE: My words are NOT to be interpreted as dismissing the jackasses in Washington, D.C. today. The correct interpretation is that I dismiss NO jackasses, regardless of the cause they purport to espouse.)
It's hard to define jack-asses on both sides, when the jack-ass of insurrection has clearly been a singular event in our recent history.

I'd like to hear what this constitutional expert says. Could you provide a link?Lem wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:00 amInteresting point. In the spirit of reconciliation, I’d like to welcome Dr. Exiled back and extend the hand of bipartisanship and inclusiveness, which is and always has been part of our core values at Cassius.

It was CBS news commentary! I'll see if I can find the name. He was really interesting to hear, maybe 3 or 4 times throughout the day.Dr Exiled wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:50 amI'd like to hear what this constitutional expert says. Could you provide a link?Lem wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 1:00 am

Re: The Party of Sedition
Mitt Romney ovation for over a minute!!! OUTSTANDING SPEECH! The Senators who stupidly continue to oppose will go down in history as COWARDS, IMBECILES, and MORONS. Pennsylvania Senator VERY POWERFUL on this tonight! That is how I will remember and speak of them. I will have no respect for them, because they have no respect for us. They are in it for THEIR OWN. But WE THE PEOPLE elected those selfish dumbasses.
See? This is why I am not a Senator. I actually WOULD speak how I feel and it would make too many uncomfortable to the one thing they don't have a clue about, the truth.
