Most of these posters have "given as good as they've gotten".

Droopy, Yahoo Bot, and BC have ALL personally attacked me, when they have disagreed with me (I do not consider myself a critic, but some might), and have also personally attacked out-and-out critics as well.

It has always cut both ways here.

There is a massive difference between offensive and defensive action. I think often people can start out trying to be nice then get dragged in to the tone that does get set here. Ignoring that reality will simply propetuate that tone.

I think that in the world of physical action there is a massive difference between "offensive" and "defensive" maneuvers. But in terms of online debate in which discussion happens both rapidly and asynchronously, the line may be harder to draw. Things can escalate much more quickly here for that reason. Another factor is the lengthy history between various posters and various incarnation of various boards; this also makes the offense/defense line harder to perceive.

I do agree, though, Josh, that it is very easy to start out "trying to be nice then get dragged in to" something else entirely. I know I've done that, myself.

I hope we can all start to figure out how to better manage board rules for the benefit of discussion. I'm happy to see you, too, Josh share this interest.

That's not true at all, why me. You're ignoring the fact that the apologists have been engaged in vicious, quite personal smear tactics for close to three decades. If you want to locate an "origin" for the hostilities, you'll have to go looking for it in the pages of the FARMS Review, on SHIELDS, and in the various antics of people like Midgley, Peterson, and Hamblin.

Hello,

Out of respect for Dr. Shades I haven't looked at Mr. Nemesis' thread where he outed him.

Mr. Nemesis is a Mociopath. Hands down.

I agree.

Even when we have been utilizing Dan G.'s name, Dan G. is simply another alias. No one actually knows who Dan G. really is.

That, too.

Nemesis "outed" Shades outright, using his full real name.

Indeed.

NEMESIS: I tried to ask you this via PM, but although it let me log in it wouldn't let me view the board. Therefore, I must ask you here:

Will you please delete my real name from your posts?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like apologies and acceptance don't last long.

I take exception to your claim that I've attacked you as a person. You're anonymous, for one thing, and for another thing you shouldn't take it personally when a TBM says your posts are absurd.

Now, Ms. Moderator, please observe the difference between an attack that is personal and one that is one. Mr. Sock Puppet adequately demonstrates a personal attack.

I think it absurd that Dr. Shades thinks he can clean up this board by eliminating personal attacks. I'm all for free speech and letting people like anonymous posters sock puppet make his personal attacks.

I think Nemesis' point is simply that the attacks that come from this board are vile, uncivilized, sociopathic and borderline dangerous, and that anybody who has a hand in enabling such is on the sure path to hell and damnnation.

But I'm here to expose my personal name and reputation to the malicious malevolence of folks like sock puppet, Dr. Canine and Eric. All to punch my celestial kingdom ticket.

I should really just leave this alone... but nothing should ever be nipped in the butt, Bud.

Morley, have you never tried butt nipping?
