Re: Kids who die before age 8 DON'T automatically go to the
This is an unusal thread.
While I agree that the doctrine of preaccountability-age deceased children getting an E-Ticket to the Celestial Kingdom is problematic for the same reasons as Tobin, there can be no doubt that it has long been the position of the LDS Church that such is indeed the case.

What you're saying then is that you have as dim an understanding of Mormonism as I do.

For some insight into Tobin:

It is fascinating to watch a supposedly believing Mormon systematically take a sledgehammer to the church's established doctrines.

I'm still very amused by how much time Darth must be spending on LDS.org mining for quotes to show Tobin what the church actually teaches.
Careful Darth, if you keep reading that stuff then you may be headed down the Don Bradley path

You don't know this since you have no experience with seeking God and God showing up. Your own posts suggest God didn't really show up. The evidence is clearly against LDS truth claims so I see no need to continue asking God about something obviously not true.
Until then, there is nothing wrong with doubting there is a God. But don't conclude that is true for everyone.
Why would I conclude that everyone doubts there is a God. Just because one thinks God exists does not make it so. You are a prime example.

I wouldn't say tobin is a believing Mormon. He stands apart and will continue to do so.

Agreed. The problem is sometimes that some want church leaders to agree with their own take on these issues. You are more honest in that you may have different views then what the church teaches, but are open and honest that they may be at odds with what the church or Joseph Smith has taught about it.

To the contrary, I am absolutely sure God exists and will answer you. It is inevitable and you can't avoid this outcome. You are welcome to deny that fact as long as you want. You will see and speak with God eventually and know I spoke the truth that God really exists. This life is a time to prepare to meet God. It is not a matter of IF, just WHEN.Themis wrote:You don't know this since you have no experience with seeking God and God showing up. Your own posts suggest God didn't really show up. That is entirely up to you Themis. If you are interesed to find out now, then seek and speak with God. If not, wait till he talks to you. In the end, it doesn't matter what you believe.Themis wrote:Tobin wrote:Until then, there is nothing wrong with doubting there is a God. But don't conclude that is true for everyone.

Lots of people are sure with things that would conflict with your belief God did show up. I just think your posts are an indicator it really didn't happen.

I am not worried about things obviously not true. I am very comfortable I have done nothing wrong here.
