Why do you keep harping about something that makes no difference? IP logs don't contain a "is a real bonified owner or a filthy low-class renter" field.
Next time I get pulled over for speeding I'll tell the officer I'm just renting the car so I can't have been speeding.

I asked my daughter to help me try to figure out what you are talking about. She says "those are not 'IP logs' they are Apache server logs for web applications. There is no such thing as an 'IP log'."drumdude wrote: https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/logs.html

Your credibility is shot. Shades, this guy is NOT moderator material.Security Configuration Guide: Access Control Lists, Cisco IOS XE Release 3S
Chapter: Standard IP Access List Logging
Chapter Contents
The Standard IP Access List Logging feature provides the ability to log messages about packets that are permitted or denied by a standard IP access list. Any packet that matches the access list logs an information message about the packet at the device console.

Re: CALL FOR MODERATORS
Here, this also might be a helpful guide to understanding your error I bolded above. It's also from Cisco's Security Configuration Guide:Sledge wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 9:40 pmI asked my daughter to help me try to figure out what you are talking about. Chapter: Configuring IP Logging
Chapter Contents
This chapter describes how to configure IP logging on the sensor. It contains the following sections:
•Understanding IP Logging
•Configuring Automatic IP Logging
•Configuring Manual IP Logging for a Specific IP Address
•Displaying the Contents of IP Logs
•Stopping Active IP Logs
•Copying IP Log Files to Be Viewed
Understanding IP Logging
Caution Enabling IP logging slows down system performance.
You can manually configure the sensor to capture all IP traffic associated with a host you specify by IP address. You can specify how long you want the IP traffic to be logged, how many packets you want logged, and how many bytes you want logged. The sensor stops logging IP traffic at the first parameter you specify.

Lem, you're clearly not equipped to have this conversation. From my daughter:Lem wrote: Security Configuration Guide: Access Control Lists, Cisco IOS XE Release 3S

Re: CALL FOR MODERATORS
This is a great example of a little information being a dangerous thing. Also the disconnect between book learning and real world experience.
I really suggest your daughter learn how to set up an apache web server. She should be able to set up a free 1 year student account with Microsoft Azure, quickly create a virtual linux server, and install apache on it. Put a simple HTML "Hello world" file on it, and access that simple web page from various locations. She will be able to see the IP address of the incoming requests in the apache file as per my link above.
Apache is the world standard web server, 25% of all websites are hosted using Apache.

Lol. So you didn't actually mean it when you said "There is no such thing as an 'IP log'." is that what you are saying?Sledge wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 10:00 pmLem, you're clearly not equipped to have this conversation.
