And are people mind readers? Should all stake presidents and bishops who see a diligent member call a pyschologist for that person? I would think a lawsuit would follow. It is really up to ourselves to see our problems or subconsicous emotions. As for the person in the podcast, the same happening could have happened in the workplace and it does happen. But is it the fault of the workplace or the person acting in the workplace?

And how does this diligent person now function in the workplace since work is given to him and he must perform? The symptoms will continue without help.

Bertrand Russell with a PIPE? Now there's sophistication!

It's totally laughable and totally sophomoric- literally.

You are right. But all know they are not really free. Something comes along and occupies their freedom. For example, hiking on sunday week after week. Or going shopping on sunday week after week. Or going to the park week after week. Suddenly, one is a slave to a sunday routine even if it is sleeping in or mixtures of all. Everyday life tends to take our freedom away.

Going to the park takes our freedom away? ROTFLMAO.

Do it every sunday with the kids and see a routine develop. It becomes routine and not very exciting if the parent is not creative, which requires some work.

No, they're not mind readers. But they're supposed to have supernatural discernment and be inspired with God-given counsel. Apparently they don't have any of those abilities.

The vast majority of the Lord's prophets have been wine drinkers, including Joseph Smith. And given the complete absence of any mention of masturbation in any scripture accepted by Mormons, it's safe to say that most or all of them were masturbators too.

Anyway, yes, it is a little sophomoric to sort of celebrate your freedom like that, but Mormonism has an infantilizing effect on its members. If you're a lifelong member, it's 80+ years of arrested development. So, when people leave the church, they're like teenagers who are finally coming of age.

Personally, I tell people all the time how unsophisticated I am. I never have pretended to be.

When you have a church who tells the members what underwear to wear and how and when to wear it this is what happens. You end up with threads about underwear. Yeah, it is totally silly, but it is an important part of the process for many.

Discontinuing the wearing of garments was a mentally painful process for me. Once I got to the point where it was too painful to wear them I actually would literally stand in my closet for long minutes just being afraid and mentally anguished over choosing what to wear. I was so scared that people would notice that I wasn't wearing them anymore (and they did). It was very, very stressful for me. I'm not sure I will ever forget what it felt like to stand in my closet looking at my clothing options and feeling the internal conflict. Should I just put on the garments? No, that is too painful. If I wear this t-shirt will it be loose and dark enough that people won't notice the absent garment lines? Okay, I think that one will be okay. Wait, today I am only left with light color shirts. OMG, what am I going to do?
Then, it morphed into the desire to wear a tank top in the summer and being so damned scared that a Mormon would see me. Or that my family would be offended and say something hurtful.

But, yeah, the church is totally normal to tell grown-ass adults the what, when and how of their underwear choices.

Wearing regular goddamn underwear shouldn't make someone feel like that. So, you'll have to excuse those of us who need to post sophomoric underwear threads for the hundredth time. When we're ready to stop talking about it we will.

That is the right attitude. We talk about what is meaningful to us, and we "get over" things in our own time. I don't understand those who say, "Shut up and move on." Silently pretending that we've put it behind us when we really haven't is, in my view, extremely unhealthy.
