Personally, I think that describes FARMS/the Maxwell Institute.

Which is what? A forum virtually devoid of hot-button critics?

Yes. They want their mopologetics to flourish in the secure little snowglobe in which they've encased them. The last thing they want is for their mopologetics to be out in the open and thus risk being tried and tested by critics.

So, then, perhaps it's more accurate to say that MAD exists as a kind of phony bastion for reassurance? Sure, it will never provide any useful support, but, hey---at least you know that it's there!

As someone else (Sethbag?) pointed out in another thread, MA&D only provides as much reassurance and "useful support" as its target audience requires.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

They will? What makes you think they'll make an exception for you?

But, yes, that whole Momus implosion was nuts: childish, cruel, and pointless.

I meant to respond in that original thread, but did you notice that after Momus was, uh, "banned," they immediately hired a new moderator with a corresponding new double-layer sock puppet? Seems to me like they kept Momus on like nothing had happened but merely changed his moderator name in order to give people the false impression that they were doing something about him.

And you'll notice that Chronos is credited with in excess of 380 posts - I believe they just renamed some other account and continued about as usual.

Did anybody see this? The next day, Drewm's wife registered and started a protest thread. No, a poll it was, asking everybody if they thought the MADB mods exercise unrighteous dominion over other members. She sounded about as PO'ed as Nephi got when the mods wouldn't close his account. Some people are way too wrapped up in this.

Yeah, that was about bashing "women who know", wasn't it? And Drew expressed considerable suspicion that juliann was a mod.

I guess TBMs can be just as paranoid, huh? :)
