I know I am. Tanked on oxygen.
“I was hooked from the start,” Snoop Dogg said. “We talked about the purpose of life, played Mousetrap, and ate brownies. The kids thought it was off the hook, for real.”

Steve Benson share his thoughts about Mitt and the LDS church....
~dancer~
Benson is the typical bitter ex LDS who are like many here on this topic. However, LDS people can and do worship and practice in different ways and many are quite fine in not thinking in the extreme that the LDS Church has to rule every facet of their lives. Mormons also believe in obeying the law of the land which Romney as president will do. Benson is doing his typical smear here.
OUT OF MY MISERY wrote:I agree with Benson, Romney will not win the nomination. Mitt=Mormon is what people see when they hear his name. No one will vote for someone that wears his religion on his sleeve, especially one that is as weird as Mormonism.
I don't even worry about Mitt even coming close to being elected, the more he talks the more he becomes less credible. If he could distance himself from his religion he would stand a better chance. But that won't happen. The voters are smart and they will not elect someone that is so tied to their religion.
Hillary and Obama are the stars in this race. Mitt doesn't stand a chance.
Ann Cooulter, who is much smarter then you on things political, thinks Romney will get the nomination. Romney, and well, any top republican right now, will beat Hillary. Obama may be a bit tougher.
Funny that you criticize Romney on credibility but think Hillary is a star. Go figure.
truth dancer wrote:If elected, I do not think Romney would do anything to harm the country, but I feel pretty certain he would be arm and arm with LDS leaders. But, he is smart and saavy and knows what it takes to get elected and I trust him when he indicates he will not bow to LDS authority, or put the LDS church's wishes or needs over those of our country.
I'm still not convinced. Mormons are "magical thinkers". I still cannot trust that Romney will not be somewhat influenced by or open doors for LDS Inc. And the hoopla surrounding a "Mormon President" - Mormons will beat that drum for years.

If you have this view of Romney because of his religion you need to have it for others. Do feel the same about Huckabee?
Outside the mainstream, Benson is far more harsh (as he's always been).
I think McCues remarks were fair and balanced. But I think that Mitt's religion is no more a "problem" then was George Bush's or Jimmy Carter's. I agree that there is a difference between Mitt and the Kennedy's but not because Catholicism is an old religion but because the Kennedy's were more Catholic in name ther real life practice. Oh they may have looked and acted Catholic but they did not really live it. Course maybe because it is really old it had lost some of its grip on members. Maybe this is what the LDS Church is going through some and maybe will be more like that a few hundred years from now.

C'mon Jason, you know better than to play the "typical bitter ex LDS" card.
I do agree, though, and I've said this on other occassions, that the whole concern about Romney where his loyalties lie is a canard.
My concern about him is the same concern I have about Huckabee (and other republican candidates): will his sympathy for religious folks lead him to empower the religious right even more? I won't vote for anyone who will do anything to help entrench the religion even more into the public square or to empower fundie nut cases (not saying all are nut cases, but many, many are nut cases and many of these are politically active).
God . . . "who mouths morals to other people and has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, . . . and finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites this poor, abused slave to worship him ..."
Well, I'm sorry to hear his marriage went toes up. 30 years is a long time to invest in something that goes sideways in the end. I hope it wasn't because his wife was able to move on, and he obviously can't.
I don't see him as "typical" anything. Anyone who starts life as Mormon royalty isn't "typical". Even after they've abdicated from the "throne", they're still members of that family and carry that name, whether for better or for worse, throughout their life.
