I miss wrapping myself up in the giant curtains on stage and then pulling them along their tracks.

why me wrote:Most exmormons on this forum will never give you a straight answer. However, if they search deep within their souls, they would say: The certainity that god lives. Most of the angst comes from their new found uncertainity about god and his existence.

But then again, it is any different for anyone who leaves their faith because of unbelief? For catholics who have lost faith wouldn't they also experience the same uncertainity or could they find peace in protestantism or in hinduism? The Mormon church has a powerful truth claim and has the answers for our existence. Where we came from and where we are going upon death. No church has such answers as the LDS church does. Thus, the terrible uncertainity exmormons have.

This is one of the most presumptuous and overtly offensive posts I have seen in a long, long time.

As an individual who apparently claims to believe without question in a disastrous and made up 19th century religion that was founded by a proven adulterous, polyandrous, religious fraud an liar, who burdened it with demonstrably false foundational truth claims, and which is lead today by a corporate gerontocracy with a proven track record of misogyny, racism, homophobia and an iron will to abridge the human rights of others, why me has no business making such claims. When he speaks as one who professes such unfounded beliefs, he has no credibility whatsoever. He just looks foolish.

What do I miss about the Mormon Church? Nothing. And certainly not demonstrably delusion, magical thinking, self-righteous individuals like why me, who seem to populate the Church membership roles in increasing numbers.

And, why me, if you wish to deny any of my assertions regarding the fraudulent foundational claims of the Mormon Church, or the track record of its leaders- from its fraudulent beginning to its corporate present- have at it. I would relish the opportunity to set you straight with a few facts.

And while you are at it, why not avail yourself of a spell checker?

I remember how hard "The proud monarch's costliest diadem" line was for most to sing. I like "The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning" and I still sing it.

I miss a lot of fun neighborly traditions that were obliterated by correlation. I also miss some of the fun activities in church youth classes that were also obliterated by correlation. Although I was already alienated by the racism and sexism, I think the real turning point for me, the I'm Not Going Back Anymore point, was when the MIA bandelos were replaced by Personal Progress Reports. Now instead of earning Girl Scout-like badges for things like Photography, Art, and Fashion Design, I had to write fill-in-the-blank answers to canned questions about "goals," goals which were not at all mine.

Hello,

I miss Road Shows. I remember my oldest brother's troupe doing a Hair ripoff that excoriated the consumption of caffeinated beverages as a gateway drug.

Kishkumen wrote:Here are the lyrics to the hymn "Oh Say, What is Truth?":

Oh say, what is truth? 'Tis the fairest gem
That the riches of worlds can produce,
And priceless the value of truth will be when
The proud monarch's costliest diadem
Is counted but dross and refuse.

Yes, say, what is truth? 'Tis the brightest prize
To which mortals or Gods can aspire;
Go search in the depths where it glittering lies
Or ascend in pursuit to the loftiest skies.
'Tis an aim for the noblest desire.

The sceptre may fall from the despot's grasp
When with winds of stern justice he copes,
But the pillar of truth will endure to the last,
And its firm-rooted bulwarks outstand the rude blast,
And the wreck of the fell tyrant's hopes.

Then say, what is truth? 'Tis the last and the first,
For the limits of time it steps o'er.
Though the heavens depart and the earth's fountains burst,
Truth, the sum of existence, will weather the worst,
Eternal, unchanged, evermore.

I definitely miss the singing the most. Right on!

I never paid much attention to correlation. But it strikes the death knell to the living legacy, sucking out all potential for spiritual life, and nails down the dead form. Interesting. Deliberate spiritual strangulation. No wonder I despise the Topical Guide as if it were a frenzied steering of my thinking. Forced burning of the 'unguided' standard, that I had nearly photographically memorized. A guide indeed. Suppose to take the Holy Spirit for you guide not correlation!
