Yes, I know LDS people who say they found value in praying before sex. It's not that uncommon of an idea within the church.

Unfortunately, this rather stomach-churning practice is not just limited to certain over-zealous Mormons.

Well, all I know is that I never heard of such a thing until I started posting on message boards where exmormons have said something about it. I've never heard it said anywhere else.

I have a harder time with the idea that dead relatives can peek in.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Sorry if I misunderstand you. Are you saying you have never tried to pray to God with your spouse to help your sex life or intimacy in general (or heard of anyone trying this)? I just want to make sure I understand you.

If that is what you are saying, I would like you to know that this seems not only commonplace but I would say it is encouraged by church leadership. my wife and I were counselled on multiple occasions to do so.

No, I have never heard of such a thing except from exmormons. My wife and I never received any counsel like what you describe.

If a dead person can manifest themselves in the temple to the extent that they are felt or seen, they can manifest themselves in my bedroom (which to me, is a huge deterent to masturbation, but that's just me). [This is a friend of mine's idea...]

That is a little creepy. Like having your parents in the bedroom on your wedding night (I understand this was common in medieval times to assure that royal weddings were consummated).

Also, do Mormons believe that God is omnipresent? That would put God in every bedroom, invited or not.

I know Santa does this:

I heard it in my singles ward. Maybe you were just never in the right place at the right time to hear it. You could always ask the faithful at Mo-Dial.
